Tutorial - Mixing Colors
We recorded this short video during a color mixing demonstration at my recent Charlotte Workshop. I walked my students through mixing several colors, staring with a pile of my mixed black, which is equal parts Burnt Sienna (Winsor Newton) and Ultramarine Blue. This palette of colors was used to create several paintings during the Workshop, and once they come off my dry racks, they will be available in my Studio Shop. Stay tuned!
Charlotte Workshop - Exploring The Surface: Painting The Still Life and Figure
Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of teaching a workshop here in my hometown of Charlotte, NC to a very talented group of students. We held the workshop in the education building at Myers Park Baptist Church, which was a fantastic space to paint in and a great group of people to work with. One of the highlights of the workshop was day two when several students brought in stunning Hydrangeas in a variety of colors from their own gardens to paint from! I truly enjoyed watching everyone get to know each other and become friends as well as turn to one another for advise during the process. I look forward to my next workshop here in Charlotte coming this fall!
Please note that our Atlanta workshop has had a date change and will now be held Oct 24-26, 2016. See all current workshops here.

Provincetown Trip 2016 a Success
During the very crazy month of May, I took my annual trip to Provincetown, MA, to study with Cynthia Packard in her studio. The trip was fantastic as always. Provincetown is an authentically beautiful place that many "Man-Made" vacation destinations attempt to copy in their charm and appeal, but typically fail and you understand that once you visit the Cape Cod area. Cape Cod has been protected from development and destruction like we have seen on our coasts.
I find being up in Provincetown captivating and as an artist, I was in visual awe the entire trip. I always arrive a few days early to take in the local vibe, see the sites and get into the artist groove. Cynthia was incredible; she is a very giving and demanding teaching who pushes me to reach further than I would on my own. I have a lot of work to do before I return next year, but I always appreciate the push Until next year!
Now Accepting Fall 2016 Commissions
It is hard to believe that I am announcing "Now Accepting Fall 2016 Commissions". I am currently finishing up Spring Commissions, which will be delivered by the beginning of summer; as well as working hard to have all my galleries set for the summer months. Commissions can take a while to plan so if you are interested in having a painting complete before the end of the year, now is the time to contact me. I will definitely need all materials by Mid-October to meet Holiday deadlines. I love working with families to collaborate and plan the perfect painting. Please feel free to contact me at angelanesbit@mac.com if you have any questions or would like a free consultation.
Mother's Day Canvases are Blooming
The Shop is stocked with a few Mother's Day Bouquets. Mom's have so many jobs and work so hard, they deserve special attention on this very Special Day. These bouquets will never fade. Charlotte clients are always welcome to come by my studio to pick up their purchases, just use code "queen city" when checking out.
If she is interested in a commission, a gift certificate could make her day. Feel free to contact me at angelanesbit@mac.com or give me a call at 704-560-1338.
Beaufort Workshop and Show a Success!
Last week I was in Beaufort, NC at Craving Art Studio teaching a workshop and also leaving a show behind. I had so much fun with Heather Sink, owner of the Studio/Gallery, and all of the new students and friends I met during my visit. The Studio is in a gorgeous restored victorian home. The high ceilings and breath taking natural light were perfect to showcase my work. Heather could not have been more gracious and welcoming, making me feel totally at home in minutes. All of the students were so amazing and became fast new friends. I look forward to returning in Spring 2017 to teach again. Be on the look out - if you are up for a gorgeous town, with really nice people and great food, then Beaufort, NC is for you.

Craving Art Studio Workshop and Show
It was one year ago on when Heather Sink from Craving Art Studio contacted me to discuss coming to Beaufort, NC for a workshop and show. Well the date has finally arrived and I will be packing up to head to Beaufort right after I return from Spring Break. Heather describes the group of students as enthusiastic and eager to learn. I am very excited to meet everyone on March 31st. I feel like I learn as much from my students at workshops as they learn from me. It is so awesome to get to meet a new group of friends with a common interest and to be immersed in the world of art for 3 solid days!! I also look forward to my Show Opening Reception on Saturday night at the Craving Art Studio 6-8 pm. Above is a sneak peak. I will have around 18 new paintings.
