We recorded this short video during a color mixing demonstration at my recent Charlotte Workshop. I walked my students through mixing several colors, staring with a pile of my mixed black, which is equal parts Burnt Sienna (Winsor Newton) and Ultramarine Blue. This palette of colors was used to create several paintings during the Workshop, and once they come off my dry racks, they will be available in my Studio Shop. Stay tuned!
Charlotte Workshop - Exploring The Surface: Painting The Still Life and Figure
Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of teaching a workshop here in my hometown of Charlotte, NC to a very talented group of students. We held the workshop in the education building at Myers Park Baptist Church, which was a fantastic space to paint in and a great group of people to work with. One of the highlights of the workshop was day two when several students brought in stunning Hydrangeas in a variety of colors from their own gardens to paint from! I truly enjoyed watching everyone get to know each other and become friends as well as turn to one another for advise during the process. I look forward to my next workshop here in Charlotte coming this fall!
Please note that our Atlanta workshop has had a date change and will now be held Oct 24-26, 2016. See all current workshops here.

Provincetown Trip 2016 a Success
During the very crazy month of May, I took my annual trip to Provincetown, MA, to study with Cynthia Packard in her studio. The trip was fantastic as always. Provincetown is an authentically beautiful place that many "Man-Made" vacation destinations attempt to copy in their charm and appeal, but typically fail and you understand that once you visit the Cape Cod area. Cape Cod has been protected from development and destruction like we have seen on our coasts.
I find being up in Provincetown captivating and as an artist, I was in visual awe the entire trip. I always arrive a few days early to take in the local vibe, see the sites and get into the artist groove. Cynthia was incredible; she is a very giving and demanding teaching who pushes me to reach further than I would on my own. I have a lot of work to do before I return next year, but I always appreciate the push Until next year!
